Training farmers to use the phone

At minimum, qualifying cluster members should have learning sessions to develop the following basic competencies:

  • Basic phone operation: Touch screen basics, numbers and letters on the phone keyboard, how to answer/hang up a call, turn on/turn off, send a text message, enter contacts.
  • More advanced phone operation: How to use phone power efficiently (airplane mode, screen brightness, Bluetooth and wifi, etc.).
  • How to use the camera and audio, basics for effective video clip sharing (short clips; deciding what story to tell in advance).
  • How to watch video files stored on the SD card and provide requested video feedback.
  • How to use WhatsApp and other apps that are of interest to the group (e.g., youtube; weather, I-cow).
  • How to use google to perform an internet search.
